Classics Club is now online! Our reading group meets by Zoom every Monday and we are enjoying discussing Homer's Iliad . Our virtual meetings add a twist to what is known as the oral tradition!
It is remarkable how much of Homer's work is relevant to all the challenges we are currently facing. His descriptions of the frailty of humans, their hopes and fears, and the moments of joy between families and loved ones all ring so true. Not only does Homer bring reassurance but also much needed escapism.
Thank you to everyone who is attending the online Reading Group for all your enthusiasm and commitment. We shall of course resume our meetings at Burwash Common Pavilion in due course and we also look forward to many more Classics Club excursions in the future.
