Since news broke of the remarkable discovery of Rutland Roman Villa, I have been following the story with fascination. Jim Irvine, whose family own the land, and who discovered the Roman Villa and its amazing mosaics kindly talked to me about the story behind the headlines. We discussed a fortuitous family stroll during lockdown, the serendipity of a swarm of bees, and the thrill of being part of BBC Two's 'Digging for Britain' with Professor Alice Roberts.
